With operating costs rising, businesses need to become more efficient to stay competitive. Luckily, programs like Energy Savings for Business (ESB) are helping Alberta organizations make game-changing investments in energy-efficient equipment.
Designed to support more than 160,000 small- and medium-scale enterprises in Alberta, Emissions Reduction Alberta’s ESB program is helping businesses across the province reduce emissions, decrease operating costs, and grow their operations. It offers up to $250,000 per project and up to $1 million per parent company to purchase and install energy-efficient technologies. The program also offers a minimum incentive amount of $500 so businesses of every size can take advantage.
Ready to make some changes but don’t know where to start? Here are some ways to get the most out of the program and your budget:
- Perform an energy audit: Energy audits can help you map out your needs and priorities quickly. An audit can reveal costly inefficiencies, help you discover easy but impactful changes, and help you create a roadmap to greater savings. The Alberta Energy Efficiency Alliance has made it easy to find an energy auditor nearest you.
- Get multiple quotes: To get the most from your product and service providers, it’s always best to get quotes from at least two to three contractors. Make sure to factor in product and installation costs and services like warranties when comparing products and services.
- Do your research: There’s no “one-size fits all” approach when it comes to energy-efficiency. To get the most out of your budget, read up on how different technologies can best address your needs and lead you to better savings. Time is money for small businesses and with the right upgraded technology, you’ll be saving on your energy bills in no time.
- Look for additional funding opportunities: New programs and financing opportunities are popping up all the time. Review the ESB program’s Terms of Conditions carefully to determine if your business can take advantage of another program at the same time. For example, Edmonton businesses may be eligible to receive additional incentives from the City of Edmonton’s Building Energy Retrofit Accelerator (BERA) Program or receive financing from Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP). If you have questions about stacking incentives, get in touch with our team.
The ESB program is open on a first-come, first-serve basis for a limited time. Start saving on your energy bills by submitting an application to the ESB program today. To get started, visit: www.eralberta.ca/esb
