Energy Assessments
and Audits

“We’d like to reduce energy consumption in our most intensive operations. The SEMI team has been really understanding of that. They’ve taken time to learn our goals and how the program can align with us.”
Sean Yaehne, VP of Business Strategy Development, Harbour Environmental Group
Calgary and Edmonton, AB
Due to higher-than-anticipated interest in the Facility Readiness Assessment (FRA), we are reallocating funding from the Energy Assessments and Audits (EAA) activity to the FRA.
The EAA activity is closed to new applications as of November 6, 2025, allowing us to focus resources on completing existing assessments and helping participants achieve their goals. This shift reflects the program’s responsiveness to industry needs and the value participants see in FRA.
Frequently Asked Questions

The EAA activity is fully subscribed, and we are not enrolling new participants this activity. If you’re already participating in FRA or other SEMI activities, please continue with those pathways—they remain available and valuable. Current EAA participants are not affected and will continue through to completion.
Yes, existing EAA participants can continue training until they’ve completed the program.
Submitting an FRA does not guarantee funding for other activities, but it provides valuable insights into your facility’s energy use and cost-saving opportunities.
Energy Assessments and Audits
The Energy Assessments and Audit activity offers comprehensive energy studies, including Computational Fluid Dynamics or Process Integration for more complex facilities to define energy savings opportunities. These detailed studies help identify energy efficiency improvements, optimize processes, and reduce emissions, ultimately enhancing operational performance, which requires a higher level of accuracy and detailed analysis of potential energy efficiency projects.
