To help build Alberta’s hydrogen ecosystem, HTEC will design, build, own, and operate a first-of-kind permanent hydrogen refueling station.
This project plays a significant role in addressing limited hydrogen fueling options in the province and connects Alberta’s abundant hydrogen production to vehicles and end-users. Located on Highway 2 in Crossfield – a busy transportation route between Edmonton and Calgary – the station will help place Alberta’s transportation sector on the pathway to net-zero emissions, with a route already familiar to drivers.
The Crossfield station will enable an initial fleet of over 25 Fuel Cell Electric Trucks to service southern and central Alberta. Delivery of hydrogen fuel will be coordinated through HTEC’s optimized fuel delivery logistics and will be based on real-time demand.
The Crossfield station will offer a permanent fueling solution leveraging HTEC’s participation in two demonstration projects in the province (providing temporary/mobile fueling solutions for both the Alberta Zero-emissions Truck Electrification Collaboration (AZETEC) and the Alberta Zero Emission Hydrogen Transit (AZEHT) project). The Crossfield station will also benefit from HTEC’s experience in British Columbia, designing, building, owning and operating Canada’s first hydrogen station network. Visit Htec.ca.
